Myanmar is situated between Holy Ganges of Indian sub-continent and Great Mekong of Indo-China, 582 miles (936 km) at its widest breadth. From Himalaya to Andaman Sea, River Ayeyarwady flows for 1,500 miles of her whole entirety on the land, enabling civilizations to flourish. At midway of her passage Central Yoma Range breaks briefly for the river to shift slightly toward West and merged with River Chindwin. Chindwin itself has its source at Himalaya and flows parallel and between River Brahmaputra of India and Ayeyarwady. Mandalay age is nearly 160 decades which was built by King Mindon, making it the capital of an independent kingdom for less than 30 years, had founded the town only 29 years earlier in 1857. Contrary to other Burmese towns, especially Yangon, Mandalay has not grown from a smaller settlement to town proportions. In 1857 Mandalay was set up in an empty area, because, according to an ancient prophecy, in that exact place a town would come into existence on occasion of the 2,400th jubilee of Buddhism. The city was named after the Mandalay Hill, which is situated at the northeast corner of the present city. The hill has for long been a holy mount and it is believed that Lord Buddha prophesied that a great city, metropolis of Buddhism, would be founded at its foot. It was King Mindon who fulfilled the prophecy.
The main tourist destination in Myanmar is Bagan, capital of the first Myanmar Empire; one of the richest archaeological sites in South-east Asia. Situated on the eastern bank of the Ayeyawaddy River. The Magic of Bagan has inspired visitors to Myanmar for nearly 1000 years. Bagan covers an area of 42sq.km containing over 2000 well-preserved pagodas and temples of the 11th-13th century.
The town of Bagan (formerly spelled as "Pagan"), central Myanmar (Burma), situated on the left bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River and approximately 90 miles (145 km) southwest of Mandalay. The site of an old capital city of Myanmar, Bagan is a pilgrimage centre and contains ancient Buddhist shrines that have been restored and redecorated and are in current use. An earthquake on July 8, 1975, severely damaged more than half of the important structures and irreparably destroyed many of them. for which the region is noted. It was first built probably in AD 849 and, from the 11th century to the end of the 13th, was the capital of a region roughly the size of modern Myanmar. In 1287 it was over run by the Mongols during their wide-ranging conquests, and it never recovered its position, though a little desultory building continued on Buddhist shrines.
The road to Inle-Lake via Nyaung Shwe is located in the Southern Shan State. Inle Lake is situated in Nyaung Shwe Township to where taking a flight from Yangon to Heho, and then travel by car or bus. From Shwe Nyaung, it takes 30 minutes to Nyaung Shwe. Then transit by long speed boat, from Nyaung Shwe to Inlay Lake Water Island. This vast picturesque lake, 900 metres above sea-level, is one of the main tourist attractions in Myanmar. The lake, 22 km long and 10 km across, has a population of some 150,000, many of whom live on floating islands of vegetation. Inle Lake, natural and unpolluted, is famous for its scenic beauty and the unique leg-rowing of the Inthars(the people from the Inle-Lake), the native lake dwellers.
